It is time to get an auto top off. I have been using a 20 gallon tub with a pump on a switch to keep it filled, but even having to flip a switch for 5 seconds to make sure it is filled seems to be too much work for me.

Now that I have decided to use Kalkwasser I think it is also time for an ATO system. I have heard some horror stories about some of them sticking and flooding the room. And that is exactly what I want to avoid. So what are people using?

I just got the Ultra Precise Level Control Top off system by Spectrapure(LLC-UPLC-II). It's expensive but it has a five year warranty and I believe it is one of the best and safest out there. It has an out of water pump and the sensor is based on a pressure type tube. theres nothing for a snail to jam. It also comes with a backup switch.

I just purchased the Tunze 5017 Auto Top-off last month. I love it! I've not had to adjust it since installation. It sounds an alarm and has three safety features.

I use a JBJ ATO on one tank and a AutoAqua Smart ATO on the other. Both are good systems, but I prefer the AutoAqua over the JBJ bc of the multiple features.

I got mine from autotopoff.com. One is the nano version and I have two of the double switch sump version.

I'm using the Tunze Osmolator 3155. 4 of them on different tanks. Only issue has been one of the power supplies shorted out, probably moisture related.

Jbj with a 5 gallon bucket right now,but im trying to find a real tall skinny trashcan might
just use a 37 gal aquarium if i cant find one

Autotopoff.com with double float using a aqua lifter for the pump. I also have mine set on a timer so it only goes on for an half hour a day while I am usually home. This is enough time to replace the water and I hear it if my 5 gallon reservoir goes empty.

Gotta put my plug in for my simple gravity-fed float valve option. I've used them (the old Kent style good quality ones) for 17 years on all my tanks without a failure. If using with kalk you have to clean the calcium off the outlet nozzle on occasion, but this is true with all systems and the build-up has never kept the valve from shutting off, it only restricts the flow. The ultimate for keeping it simple and not spending a buncha money.

autotopoff.com dual float switch for me. I feed saturated kalk from a 12 gallon storage with a very robust aqualifter pump. I have a backup peristaltic pump but have never had the need to change it out yet. Float switch has been working great for 3 years and only 3 vinegar baths during that whole time, each after the lower float got stuck but upper float kicked in to stop too much water.
