What do they drop your tank off in?

I just ordered my first ready to roll system. Up until this point I always bought a tank, bought an overflow, plumbed everything myself, built my own stand, etc.

I just bought a IM 200EXT. Im wondering if they'll get to my house as i live on a dirt road. To make it more fun, its a dead end. Luckily, i'm the first one the road, and its only 1000' after the pavement ends and the roads at least 3 cars wide. I see home depot box trucks and the like fly by all the time. Am i likely to have my tank dropped off in a box truck? Or a rig with a trailer? If its a box truck I think i'm fine. It its a trailer im probably picking up at a terminal i think.

What has everyone else's experience been? Any tips or insight?

I would contact the seller and do my best to coordinate with the trucking company they contract with to get it to my driveway and into the garage or house, if possible.

I was in contact with saltwateraquarium, sent them my address, they contacted IM directly who basically looked my address up on Google maps and said, (and this is paraphrasing) "the road looks clear enough, but if the roads too treacherous or theres low hanging trees the trucking comlany wont take that liability. That we can try the address and the trucking company will let them know if they cant make a delivery and I can pick it up at a terminal after that point."

They took it to the end of my driveway, was a freight company, I even asked IM ahead of time and they said they would take it to the garage. That was not the case, I offered a tip and he used his pallet jack to go to my garage or at least somewhat close

Most likely a small semi with a trailer and lift gate. Your tanks and stuff will be boxed in wooden crates.

Im halfway considering just planning on picking up at the terminal... we have a Ford f550 with a 20 something foot flatbed at work I could just use to grab it, and back right up to my door...

Or have it dropped off at work... we have a fork truck to load it onto said flatbed as well...

A box truck is delivering mine. It's a local freight company delivery service. It's probably best to find out which company will be delivering to you and contact them directly to figure out what they will do.

OK sweet. I'll give them a few days to finish processing my order next week and i'll reach out to figure that out further.

I think it varies depending on the truck being used by the shipping company. There's curbside delivery and some that will bring it into your garage. Some even charge extra for a liftgate, it depends on the delivery company and what the agreement with the shipper is. My most recent came on an 18 wheeler and my road was closed so they couldn't get to the house. Eventually dispatch found a location at a local grain elevator near by so I met them there and we slid the 800lb pallet into my truck bed. That was fine with me because I have a truck and I also have a tractor with forks. I would probably wait until the shipping company contacts you to schedule delivery and then you can discuss options with them. They should be able to move it to a smaller box truck if needed.

I will just say this.

If you want in place delivery, make that clear and make sure it gets on the paper work with the company delivering it.

At work, 100% of the time, as a requirement, anything over a certain weight has in place delivery where they drop it exactly where it needs to go in the building, and 100% of the time its on the paperwork and the delivery team will always try to weasel their way out of it, which we can't allow. We cannot, outside of our maintenence which is another agency entirely, have or operate pallet Jack's, and it literally becomes a federal case every time I give in because I am easily guilt tripped amd have to tear down the pallet myself and make 30 trips to move a bunch of equipment myself.

If you just want it in your driveway, thats what they will try to do anyway, but if that doesn’t work for you, a lot of delivery companies do not give their drivers time to do anything more even if paid well for, than to drop it and run.

Edit: I want to make it clear, I do feel bad for the delivery teams, I know it's the freight companies fault for over working their guys. Also, if in-place is necessary, dont sign until its in place, ive had quite a few of sign and runs lol. "Yeah sign this and ill get my jack" and then they try to drive off, which at that point I clear them to leave anyway because who wants to deal with that.

You can control it, rather than dealing with ( possible) poor delivery driver skills and him having a bad day.

Mine came in a FedEx truck and he used kinda like a walk behind forklift to put it in my garage.

I think garage delivery is pretty common. As long as you don't have a 400 foot gravel driveway full of holes and ruts covered by a canopy of tree branches

Im leaning towards this. Plus, I dont have a heated garage and it'll be November to February in central maine... dont want the silicone freezing as i think i heard thats bad? I can have it dropped at the shop, take the stand home, assemble it that night, then bring it home Friday night or Saturday morning, and have a group of buddies meet me to lug it inside. I think i can back the flatbed right up to my deck and we can step off of it, right to the deck and avoid stairs.

IM's website says curbside, not garage, and not in house. I think this is a common discrepancy haha. Waterbox i think, is just top notch and gets you better delivery
