What do they drop your tank off in?

Our 180g was dropped off by an 18-wheeler.

Years ago I bought a Glasscages 240 and had it shipped from the eastcoast to the westcoast via their own semi truck. They did a cross country swing, ending up in the Tacoma Washington area. This was about 20+ years ago and the shipping cost was only $279 ( I think), but the truck drivers were a husband and wife team.
I had to meet them about 30 miles from my place and we were able to move the 240 off the semi and on to my pickup. It wasn't the greatest experience, but it got done.
When I originally ordered and paid for the custom build, I thought the delivery would be at my house. My neighbor had a forklift and I figured it would be a piece of cake. It wasn't until the truck was a day away that I found out the delivery point wasn't at my house.
So make exact arrangements for delivery in a contract before money is paid.
Control the situation.

They loaded it in my 2500 and then my neighbor offloaded it with his small bobcat.

I think i'm either going to do that or i'll have it dropped at the shop. We have a couple skid steers, and a forklift. I can probably load the flatbed at the shop(truck has a cap and a decked system so tank wont fit) and either just back up to the deck and hope we can pick the tank up and over the handrails to the deck, or drop the skid steer the day before so I can literally pick it up and put it right where we want it. Idk yet. Luckily I got time to dial in a plan

Sounds like you have a plan with the space and equipment to make it work perfectly.

I think garage delivery is pretty common. As long as you don't have a 400 foot gravel driveway full of holes and ruts covered by a canopy of tree branches

I worked on a freight dock in college and learned the tricks of moving freight. If you have a large gate and doorway a forklift is absolutely the best way to handle a heavy load!

OP- The last time I had a heavy truck delivery I was getting soil delivered into the garden. That old house had a low hanging telephone wire that crossed the driveway. I used a long pole to lift it up so that the dump truck could pass under without issues. Low wires & narrow driveways or dirt roads, and funky bridges are the biggest obstacles that a freight company can be concerned about when they schedule a driveway delivery.

Going inside they worry about narrow walkways, doorways, and stairs that are in the path.

Having this information before you talk with them can help their scheduler make a determination about what they can do for you on delivery day.

For myself, I can’t help lift a big tank or a sleeper couch anymore. My grip strength and back strength are not reliable now.

Like you I can no longer do what once could. I even use it to put window AC units up in a shelf for storage. I used to carry them up a ladder. It was pretty spooky I can bring a tank into the garage and slide it into the house onto furniture dollys and roll it wherever I need. Too bad I can no longer get large tanks up onto the stand myself

I THINK im pretty set on delivery at my workplace. Talked to my boss today and he was all for it. Said I can use any equipment I want. I could probably get a skid steer with a set of forks here, but my garage isnt heated and I wont have a crew available to lift it in same day as delivery.. i can store it at the shop till I get my stand built and line up a crew though! Seems like a no trainer at this point. Hesitant to move it, but theoretically if it made it all the way to my place of employment, it should make the last 15 miles to my place

It took me dropping my new 100g recently to realize it. It wasn't my fault a suction cup let loose. That's my story and I'm sticking to it . Tank survived so all is well and I've learned my limitation.

this black stuff is where i bounced my 120 off the wall moving it myself happens to the best of us.

This reminds me though, I was considering buying a couple sets of sections cups. VEVOR has 2 packs for like $47. I will likely never use them again so idk.. i was considering buying 2 pairs but idk how necessary they are. Hopefully i'll have like 5 or 6 guys here.

Today 3 friends and I had to bring in my 170 inside and put it up on the stand. I must admit there was a bit more grabbing the Euro-brace and pulling than I wanted, but it was HEAVY. Hopefully no long-term damage anywhere in joints.

Im halfway considering just planning on picking up at the terminal... we have a Ford f550 with a 20 something foot flatbed at work I could just use to grab it, and back right up to my door...

Let them deliver it to your house. Most freight companies deliver like this all the time. The less times is loaded and unloaded the better. Plus if something happens the freight company is insured. If something happens while your loading or unloading, your cooked.
