Looking at upgrading again! I just got an ATI powermodule 48" 10 bulb fixture and want to get a tank to fit it. A guy local has this tank that he is going to trade to me...

Here are some pics of the tank actually sitting in storage. The tank was actually in an office (dentist or something) and was a custom in wall tank. They used bricks on the bottom of the tank and stuck PVC pipes into them and fastened rocks to create pillars. I think those will have to go tho!
Here it is...
First off thickness of glass..

And a picture to show the height...

Looks to be a very well built tank! I am also gonna have to invest in some long tongs! The silicone looks to be very nice in most pictures.
The weird part is the overflows. They weren't built high enough to fill the water all the way up. I will fix that with 2 custom overflow boxes in each corner. He had said the back piece is just a sheet of black acrylic that just comes right out.

I have 2 plans currently:

Plan 1: Tear the tank apart and turn it into a 60x38x24T. Will have to cut one of the 60x38 panels into a 60x24 front panel. Put back(with help of another fellow reefer) together using black silicone. Giving me shallow dimensions. This vangogh121's tank off of RC. I love this tank!

Plan 2: Leave tank the way it is and make 2 some what tall pillarish rock formations and put LPS/SPS towards the top and softies on the bottom. Lots of swimming room for fish.
Invision:
Doug's tank is 72x25x36. So mine will be 1 foot shorter and about the same depth and height.

That guys tank on RC is Awesome...... :)

I would tear the panels down, get the edges polished and beveled. Flip it on its side and attach a starfire front.

BTW, I am waiting to reply to your pm, I have a build thread on our local forum, which is down at the moment. (carolinafishtalk.com)

Thanks for the input from the shallow tank inspirator himself! :) That is what my gut tells me to do! I really love your shallow tank with depth! It truely is a beautiful tank!

I have a guy that is an acrylic guru and does great work and he also has done some glass work also, so he would put the tank back together for me. All he asks is that i have all the pieces cleaned, cut and ready to go....and a frag or two...reasonable!

I really want to check out your thread as soon as its up! Thanks for getting back to me!

Do you have a glass company local that will polish the edges and bevel them?

It was a lot easier then you can imagine, the prep took about 2 hours, the silicone work took about 6 minutes.

Did you build your tank yourself? I guess i didn't realize that! That makes your tank even that much better! It looks like its built from an aquarium manufacturer. Thats amazing! I have plenty of glass companies close to me. I live a few hours away from Omaha and a few other close shops. Should be able to get it done no problem.

Also i really like the colors in your tank Here is my fixture and bulb config. I had seen you are using more Blue Plus so i may give that a go instead of so many specials.
