I use some food grade Rubbermaid bins and the lids that are made for them. Since Amazon links don't seem to work here. This model number is for the 22qt., but they come in several sizes:

They work very well for me and fit nicely in my cabinet.

I've got a just an extra like Tupperware container we had in the house. Drilled a few holes for tubes and cords, ran a water line directly from my ro/di that is controlled by a solenoid so it auto-fills!
If you have an RODI unit nearby why not just put the solenoid directly into your sump and avoid the Tupperware container altogether?

Lol I'm omw to petco now for a 10 gal tank. Been using a bucket for a while. I've been searching and I just can't find a 10 gal container that fits my space for cheaper...With a glass lid with cutouts for tube/wires ~$50. Still more than half the price of the cheapest acrylic I found...
A standard 10 gallon tank with a lid is what i use too. They're cheap, easy to find, was proportionally correct for the space i have and the ability to easily see the waterline is underrated.

there are a few reasons to keep your reservoir,
TDS creep, not giving access to a limitless supply of water, provides a backup source to RODI water should some be required.
I'm sure most people would be fine but for the one it isn't fine for it could be a catastrophic fail to your fish, property and finances.

My ro/di unit is about 25' away. I don't have the solenoid dump directly into the sump because it would be turning on and off many times a day for very short periods of time, it only takes 30-45 seconds to top off the sump. That can lead to tds creap and early depletion of the di resin.
The reservoir lasts a couple of days before it needs to be refilled.

Had some extra acrylic about. I made my own ATO container. It is about 15 gallons. Saves me tons of worry about evaporation. Now i just need to finish the cabinet and work on cord management.

Is an option like the Innovative Marine Hydrofill a good idea or a waste of money over a more basic bucket or container option?
I'm sure if you have the money and it fits perfectly.
But I've found many shapes and sizes of pet food containers to be perfectly acceptable.

I use my 50G RO/DI for one tank (i also use this connected to another 50 g drum for mixing salt water) and was just using a 5 g container for my other (180g) tank but recently upgraded to the (rather expensive at $99.00 but very well built and might fit in your sump area) Red Sea 10g container. It's only 6" wide so very easy to put someplace out of the way (side of tank etc) and has clearly marked g markers so you can quickly ***** how much water you have left.

Hedpack Jug, available on Amazon. I drilled the Lids for The Hose, for the wire I used a Rubber Grommet around the Wire to seal up the hole and protect the wire. Two 2-1/2 Gallons for my 65, I hook them together when on vacation. 5 Gallons for my 120. Use a Two Gallons Pretzel Jar for my Oceanic. For some reason my 65 goes through almost as much water as my 120.

I went with a 16g hmahli. I was using a bucket, then a 5 gallon from trigger to fit in a smaller area. Wound up needing a larger container for trips
