What do you use for iodine dosing??

Well my triton test came back with low Iodine, and I am going to try dosing. Some of my SPS have paled out a little, but still look healthy. I just want to try and see if it helps them any. What would you recommend?? Thanks

I recently wanted lugols but couldn't find it. Fluval sea I ended up finding. It' a balanced iodine sup.

Lugol's. I just add 2 drops into the overflow of 100 gallons, twice a week. This is underdosing somewhat. I have accidentally overdosed iodine supplements before, and trust me, you would much rather underdose. Also, all of the available hobbyist iodine tests can give inaccurate results; I would not advise basing dosing on the results of home testing.

While I don't think it is typically useful, I would (and have) dosed iodide. There are many commercial brands that are suitable, and a few I'd avoid since they have other ingredients

I change 2 gallons a day, and usually do a 10-20 gallon a month change on top of that with about 200 gallons. I use red sea blue bucket.

I do have Iodide. I may try that and see how it goes.

I used KZ auto elements in my fuge when I was harvesting lots of chaeto along with their auto elements iron.

Seachem Iodide,,I dose twice a week with my bioload..half the dose it says on the bottle...keep in mind,,TEST TEST is your friend..

I think iodine dosing is great but I'm curious what your values are for NO3 and PO4? If they are paling you may want to bump them up some.

I think (at most) it brings out blue coloration in acros. All of this is anecdotal of course :). I'm a big advocate of keeping it simple and maintaining the big 3 FWIW.

They are pretty low. I have started feeding heavier for now, and actually feeding corals. First time in a year. LOL. I have 7 fish in QT now so I am sure that will help when they go into tank.

Since I'm dosing a carbon source which fuels bacteria, and those little things consume potassium like no tomorrow (I started at 600ppm and now 3 months later its at 440ppm) I'm assuming iodine gets consumed by bacteria too. So I'm dosing based on this assumpion.

Iodide gets rapidly taken up by algae. I'm just not sure anything we usually keep actually benefits from it. :)
