What Else Do You Use RODI Water For?

What else do you use RODI pure water for (NOT waste water!)? I use it for my plants and humidifier.

RODI is not good for humans or animals to have as their sole drinking source.

I use it in spray bottles to clean/rinse my testing vials/syringes after use.

I don't use RO/DI for anything other than my reefs and for car and RV battery top offs. I do use the RO only part though for cooking, drinking, icemaker, pet watering, the floor steamer and much more.
RO/DI is very agressive so could eat the metals in anything not specifically designed for RO/DI distilled water, many appliances such as steam irons and floor steamers specifically say not to use RO/DI or distilled or it voids the warranty. You need a few ions like in RO only so it is not as agressive.

Have your birds been drinking DI water for very long? I don't think it is even recommended for humans to drink it, and birds are more sensitive than we are. I hope the birds are doing well! Years ago we raised budgerigars. We had as many as 200 at one time.

I use the waste water to rinse clothes in washer, and to water spinach, and collards in fall, and winter, and tomatoes, onions, and squash in the spring, and early summer.

Well it looks like maybe not RODI, but RO is okay -.- Jesus Christ.. Haven't been doing it long thank God

I am reading a lot of mixed opinions. I am calling my vet tomorrow to get her professional opinion.

I think that the problem is what is missing from the DI water, not what is in it. In nature birds get some of their minerals from water. You could probably add a supplement to their water and have the best of both worlds - purified water with known minerals, and vitamins added back in.

It doesn't taste refreshing, kind of bland or blah but it isnt going to hurt you in normal quantities since again we don't get our minerals from the water. What the studies have found is eating even one potato chip supplies more than has been removed from the water. Eat a sensible diet and drink RO/DI if thats what turns you on.

I always hear that it tastes gross I don't notice the difference. I don't drink it anymore but I used to fill up a gallon and keep it in my mini fridge. Now.for whatever reason I use tap. When I uses distilled I always through on in the fridge for me

I did want to update. I talked to my veterinarian who said RODI is fine for birds on a good pellet diet. She said she would prefer them to be on the RODI due to us having a lot of Giardia in the water in our area (Giardia is a protozoa).
