I have a 85g mainly softy reef for 2.5 yrs. I was doing routine maintainence last week when my Lineatus wrasse went Evil Knievel and jumped out. I caught him and put him back as fast as possible but he died 3d later. I was wondering what I should replace him with. Mainly want colorful, hardy and peaceful fish, but needs to be able to stand up to Stacki. I was thinking Melanarus wrasse? I currently have:

One spot foxface
Purple tang
Bangaii cardinal
Pinstripe wrasse
Orange back wrasse
Starcki damsel
2 clownfish

Please give ther suggestions. Thanks!

I’m fond of the blue teeth and bright colors of the Harlequin tusk fish myself. They are fairly durable, filled with rainbow colors and have been fairly peaceful with tank mates. They can be pricey, they can be captive bred, and they are not as jumpy as many other fish, ime.

Otherwise, I would wait for something that you like to show up at the LFS. Most of us go to the fish shops just to see what they have and when something special comes in having space for a new find isn’t a problem when the fish of opportunity happens to show up.
GL with your next choice for your tank! :smiling-face-with-sunglasses:
