Last Saturday only to discover that my peppermint hog, my favorite fish, had somehow gotten in the sump and jumped out and died. Then my powder blue tang had ich and a little white on him. He died, followed by my anthias, clown fish, and midas blenny, which has disappeared. The water parameters in my 120-gallon tank were good, with the exception of the alkalinity, which was 6.7. My blue hippo is alive but very quiet. My rabbit foxface, cleaner wrasse, goby, other wrasse, and other clownfish are okay. I was devastated and feltlike giving up. My tank is beautiful, but to lose four fish is hard, specifically your favorites. My tank brought me joy while dealing with the illness of my mother. I am treating the tank with Reef Medic. I will see what happens this weekend. Next time, I will only purchase the most resilient fish. It is hard seeing them die. . Last night I lost my big clown fish. He has no spots, no signs of velvet, What can wipe out an entire population of fish? I will take picture of the remaining fish. when the lights come on. My blue hippo has bee hiding .He may be dead. Can fish show no signs of ich, have ich and die? Reef Medic does not seem to work.

Lisa, please post pics of your Sick Fish under white lighting for the best diagnosis. Reef Medic will not be effective. Do you have Corals or other Inverts in your Tank? I would plan for a hospital Tank if you don't already have one.

Often if your inverts are fine but fish are dying, it points to disease and was there loss of appetite, heavy breathing, or lethargic behavior before deaths?
Pics and even videos under white light intensity -no blue often offer clues. Can be flukes but there will be signs such as rapid breathing, fish acting lethargic or swimming near the water surface, hiding in the corner of tank or behind rocks, loss of appetite, shaking its head, flashing/darting, develop clamped fins, , or scratching against objects. They may also exhibit what looks like yawning from gill irritation develop, cloudy eyes and loss of color.

I think your other post has more pertinent information in it, let's keep the discussion over on that thread:

Thanks, I purchased the Midas Blenny and in one day it disappeared. I have not seen it again. The anthias has no visible signs of ich. I am headed to the local fish store. I will see if it has the fluke medication. Will it hurt the corals such as the bubble corals? The hippo and foxface had huge appetites. Now appetite is small. They love seaweed sheets but barely will swim toward it. I will put in another piece today,

I would get a Copper Based Medication also. Copperpower or CopperSafe and a Test Kit. Usually, fish with Flukes will still eat normally.
Please consolidate your posts, it's very confusing.

Praziquantel is pretty safe to use for corals and other invertebrates if dosed according to the file I copied for you.

Foxface has elevated respiration rate for sure. I don't see anything on his body (but can't see it's entirety) so likely Gill Flukes. Did you get Prazipro? Ideally, you would want to treat him in a separate Hospital Tank, but Prazipro can be used in your DT.

Reef Medics I have a video of the foxface

The fish looks to be breathing a lot faster than in the previous video. This could be a sign of velvet instead of gill flukes like i had thought. Trouble is, velvet requires a copper treatment and gill flukes requires praziquantel - and there isn't really any way to confirm one over the other. Doing both treatments at the same time is risky, but may need to be done in this case.....

I have the same problem. Rapid breathing, no external symptoms, and the fish are dying. Have you figured out what's going on yet?

I did not figure out the problem completely. As of now the blue hippo survived, the wrasse, the cleaner wrasse, th4e goby and the new clown fish are all alive. It was some type of fish disease that occurred for a period of time. Let me know if you figure out what is causing your problem.

Did you try treating with anything?
