Not trying to derail your thread this is a ORP related sorry OP if I’m hijacking your thread but this is information on ORP. So for what it’s worth I installed a UV sterilizer couple days ago as you could see in the graph the dip is when I did the water change that I was questioning why is ORP so low and then you can see over the two days or so that the UV sterilizer has raised my ORP from 220 to over 275 It’s still climbing. With that being said I will 100% tell you my curls look better in the two days alone with a higher or RP I can also tell you strange thing the fish I’ve had for many years over for five we’re out swimming last night with the lights off and they’re normally just hiding that could be a coincidence but at 1 o’clock in the morning my tangs We’re swimming the length of a tank out in the open

I’m searching because this is not good or the probes going out. The corals all look fine but this doesn’t.

Did you ever try calibrating the ORP probe?

I was under the assumption that it was crazy expensive?

What sort of device do you use to measure ORP?

A standard for calibration is less than $100.

Jumping in on this old thread. My ORP drops for a couple of days any time I vacuum my sand bed or stir my sump. I do this when I do a "water change". Is it possible that others saying ORP drops after a water change are really meaning to say ORP drops after a sand stir...? Just a thought.
I'm in on this thread because I was looking for an answer why my ORP drops about 30 points the minute I start O3. Still wish I had an understanding of why that happens and if there is something wrong.

ORP in new salt water is typically low, although it does not have to be. It depends on how it is made. ORP in sand beds will also be low. You may be seeing both effects the way you do the water changes and sand bed washing.

I'm not sure why you see a drop in ORP with ozone initiation without knowing more details of the setup. Trapped water will drop in ORP, for example, if such a thing happens in your setup when ozone is off.

Do you see it eventually rise with further ozone use?
