Tank is about 3M old.
zero nitrates. Zero phosphates. Probably because algae is using it all.

I also have lots of buildup on the glass.
Running three SKY lights at 65% max. 300g tank.
thanks for feedback!

Hair algae my friend. What are you using to test those nutrients? There is some truth that there is quite a lot of phosphates and nitrates wrapped up in the algae. How are those nitrates more importantly? You need algae in you tank (nitrate and phosphate consuming algae) that is going to compete with the hair algae so that it doesn't dominate the water column. Not the most conventional method but it will hamper the growth of your hair algae.

Both are being tested with Hanna.
I already have a mimic tang and white tail like tang. I see them nip at the rocks, but not the big stuff. CUC is about 6 emerald crabs, dozen hermits and probably 40 snails at this point.

What do you think of a Sea Hare?

Tomorrow I am going to siphone the sand and rocks to get rid of any clumps

I love my urchins, they clean up all the algae in the DT unless its bryopsis. For bryopsis you will need fluconazole.

Tangs wont touch the stuff once it gets long enough. At least mine dont.

Harvest and scrub rocks regularly (as often as you can). Combine with water changes. Your hand can harvest faster than CUC/tangs/etc. And it’s cheaper!
