What is my Rainbow Monti trying to tell me?

Is this rainbow monti frag trying to tell me something? The darker spots are new. PE is normally a bit better, but I just did a water change.
Everything else in the tank is happy

No3 10 (or less)

No phosphate test kit yet

More light? Less light? More flow? Leave it alone and see what happens?
Been in the tank a week, same spot.

Looks fine to me. Don’t really see the dark spots you’re talking about. Nice polyp extension. I would leave it be for now.

The "dark spots" are on the forward left corner in that picture. They seem to be just darker circles on the base, as the polyps there still seem good too.

My first time keeping monti, so I figured it was safer to ask just in case.

Should I snap it off the plug and glue it to the rock?

I got a couple different monti frags last weekend, theyre all still on the plugs. I was afraid of damaging them by trying to remove them from the plug

It's telling you there is no gold at the end of that rainbow! Actually it might be a little bruised tissue. Not sure, but they can get a little worse for wear during transport.

You can leave it on the plug but will be left with a disc shaped part of the coral. It wins against most sps so plan accordingly.

Id leave it alone and don't worry about the plug. It will encrust over it when it grows
