As far as species name, there is a certain “slippery” wrasse species with a hilariously unfortunate name out there lol
I do think clownfish is the perfect name - it fits in every sense. Color, behavior, and even the creepy clown aggression!

Turd - my friends spiny puffer fish. his favorite thing to do was float right at the surface and sleep?* but he would just lounge on the surface and adjust with his fins every so often. He just loved bobbing on the water, like a turd floater.
