heard good things about those how much growth do you get with it though?
Light is not the limiting factor with growth. Water quality and nutrients level is. I throw out handfuls of chaeto and red gracillira every two weeks. Has nothing to do with light though. I could have used a 60w light bulb and would still have same growth.

Cheap clip on work light with a cheap grow light bulb. Chaeto loves it as does my wallet. I just see no need for a high dollar light for a fuge. I have 3 fuges thriving with these cheap lights. I guess if appearance is an issue maybe but it is a fuge right?

Tunze Chic: Because they are submersible, we gain much more effective lighting per watt due to a) inverse square law and b) no light loss from reflecting off the water surface. I lay one on top of my Chaeto and one one the bottom aimed upwards.

But do you get a lot of light spill into other chambers resulting in algae?

Your chaeto don't turn white from touching the chic light?

But do you get a lot of light spill into other chambers resulting in algae?

Actually no. The only chamber I was getting any noticeable algae was my frag section under an xr15. I recently turned that section into a semi cryptic zone and filled it with live rock and rubble. My fuge is between the first chamber with socks and skimmer and the return chamber. Nothing grows in the return chamber and the first chamber just gets tube worms and sponges.
