So I went to Home Depot and wasn’t sure what pipe to get, should I get charlotte pipe, or vpc. Do both work? They were both schedule 40.

CPVC is for hot water. Unless you plan to heat your tank to 200 degrees you only need regular PVC. Schedule 40 PVC is what most people use. You could use thinner pipe for drains with no pressure, but I cannot think of a good reason not to use regular PVC schedule 40 for all plumbing.

Because in Home Depot they only sell vpvc.

CPVC is yellowish color. PVC is either gray or white. You don't need CPVC (Its designed for hot water), but it will work fine if you have it as long as your solvent is rated for CPVC.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I read, I would only need cpvc, if I were to have it hot.

Sorry i was confused as to what I bought.

What are you using it for? I suppose I should have asked that first.

Regular PVC is for normal drain situations encountered in the hobby, cpvc is for potable water, hot & cold, (drinking, shower & bath, dishwasher, sinks).
