and probably the last .
They aren’t a $15-$20 fish anymore

I'd pay up to $150. They're rarer now and I recognize the price needs to reflect that.


That being said, if I was going to pay $150, I'd probably just pay slightly more and get a purple tang instead. I like them more tbh.

Purple tangs are cheaper than yellows here .
ive saw yellows for as much as $250-$499

purple I have saw them for less than $100

Paid $40 for mine pre Covid. I would not likely pay over $100. +1 @hds4216 if it is going to get into the +$100 ballpark, I'd go purple. I would pay more for captive bred though. I feel like we need to support the industry in protecting the fish.

Agreed, I would pay more for a captive bred fish.

Considering how long they live and how easy to care for I would go $200 if the 10 year old one I have now ever dies.

I don't have a lot of fish though so it's easy to justify a higher price per fish.
