Thanks Everyone !
After having several conversations with several people today, I think I have decided to have the tank drilled, install a Synergy Shadow Box Overflow, and a Sump.

Now I will start researching different Sumps. All recommendations are welcome !

A very wise decision.
You will have a piece of mind on your hand.
I would start a build thread as you can store the info all on your own thread.

+1 on starting your own build thread. Nice to have everything in one place.

I use a variation of the bean animal overflow. Very simply, I have a two corner overflows. In the first overflow I have a return pipe that comes up and back into the tank. In the same overflow I have a drain pipe that is one inch taller than my main drain: this is my secondary drain. In the second overflow, I have two drains. The first is another drain that is my primary drain: it is shorter than the others. The last drain in this overflow is my emergency: the top of this drain is even with the bottom of the teeth on my overflow. It has NO shut off valve on it and has no bends in pipe. In the event of my tank emptying all the way down to the teeth on the overflow, there is still room in the sump to catch that volume. With three drains and one return (albeit with a very powerful Vortech L1 pump), the chances of a flood are minimal. Just in case, though, I also have a ten dollar water sensor alarm from Home Depot that would wake the dead.

Thanks for the heads up on the water alarm.
I shall be purchasing one of those tomorrow ! :)
