Shrimp molted last night and I noticed stuff floating around the tank that my clown was interested in. I usually see this when the cleaner is breaking up stuff to eat. Noticed he was pulling stuff out of his little propeller fins on his abdomen. Just curious what this is I've never seen it.

Cool video - I wonder if "he" is a "she"? Crustaceans commonly mate right after the female molts. The female holds her eggs on the pleopods (propellor fins). If the eggs aren't fertile, she needs to get rid of them - and yours is clearly eating whatever she is pulling off of there.

Definitley a she now I always keep forgetting that. It is the only one in the tank. I kind of figured it was this and nothing seemed overtly wrong I just didn't know if it was excess molt or something as I had noticed the molt in the tank from last night.

Thanks!
