What is this on my rocks?

-Newly cycled tank
15 gallons
-Dry Marco rock
Long white wispy strings of algae everywhere overnight. What are these? Not worried as I’m sure it’s part of the ugly stage but just curious! Never seen before

Looks like slime or fiber - did you clean your rocks prior to placing in tank?
Many new dry rocks will have dust and even atmospheric dirt on them and hance should be rinsed and agitated prior to placement in tank

I did! Maybe not super thoroughly, but I put them in a bucket and rinsed with RO water for an hour or so by letting the bucket overflow

That should have been sufficient. Net this stuff up and see if anything re-emerges suggesting some type of leaching.
