What is this on my torch

I just got this torch from my local shop. Can anyone explain what this thing is attached to it?

I want to check before adding it to my tank

Hard to tell out of the water.

Doesn't appear to be part of the torch itself... If you could get a photo underwater, that might help.

May be a sponge. Not a problem unless it grows over the flesh. You could try and scrape it off.

Yeah,,, picture under water would be good.
Looks kinda "polyp"-y. I'd be worried it might be some type of hydroids or something.
...no idea but I'd be erroring on the side of caution
