What is this?

I am very new to having my own tank. My dad recently gave me one of his (its been established for years, just moved it from his house to mine) and there's a few things in there that he told me the name of them but I can't find any information on them?

here I took a picture of my new hawkfish but my question is about the purple colored coral. What is it?

No prob, I think it is a cyphastrea but I could be wrong.
