This was in the bag with my clam, I'm assuming it the food but not sure. As far as I can see there is no damage to the clam.
What do you think it could be? Should I be worried?

Unfortunately that looks like it might be a byssal plug :(

I know they can easily replace damaged threads but I'm uncertain if it would recover from the entire plug being pulled out like that.

Yes to byssal threads. If the clam does not open fully after a couple hours post placement contact vendor. The clams may have been too roughly removed from it's attachment medium.

Looks ok to me. Mine detached from his anchor in the sand a couple weeks back and it's slowly recovering.

I think the entire byssal came off, I don't think that's good. I'll see what Live Aquaria says about it.

A healthy clam will regrow its foot, both of mine detached from me pulling to hard and a few weeks later it's good as new!

I want to try another clam, will look locally for something bigger if I can find anything.

dang. bad handling. I got lucky on a very small Squamosa.(too small) by manys standards.
