What is this?

Was called out to a storage unit with an abandonned tank. The pump needs a rebuild, I can't even open the UV unit, the tank itself was unsalvagable, the refugium was excellent, some good plumbing, horrible broken heaters,

but what is this thing?

A reactor of some type perhaps.

The elbow comes off, the straight piece has what looks like an airstone in it. The weight in the bottom looks homemade. It was separate in a box from the rest of the salvage, no plumbing.

If you flip it upside down could it be a protien skimmer? The air stone makes me think it could be a home made skimmer.

The small chamnber on the bottom is sealed and has what looks like a home made weight inside wrapped in black tape.

This is interesting , Is there an obvious place ti install a pump ? hook it up & see what it does ! Looks like a r DIY reactor or " maybe" skimmer .
