Ok reefers....I have a fee patches of this stuff in my tank. Is this green hair algae? If it is how do I get rid of it? I moved my tank and while my water is clear, fish and coral are happy still my numbers have changed. I have to dose KH to keep my numbers up...some of my coraline algae has disappeared and cynobacteria had grown in a fee spots on my top rock. I just need help cleaning this up before it gets out of control. I pick it with forceps and it gies away but quickly grows back :( just need some suggestions. I have a 32 gallin Nano biocube. I run carbon 2nd chamber off and on 2 weeks alternate and floss top chamber and chaeto on the bottom with some rock. Tell me what causes this and how to rid it in my tank!

Phosphates are a important one too. 0 nitrate is strange, your not using api test kits are you?

what are you feeding the tank? Any aminos or anything? Reef roids?

Ive struggled with 0 nutrients and algae when my tank was new. Algae went away and nutrients stayed near undetectable until i started to dose them. Algae is feeding off the nutrients in the water faster than the bacteria can stabilize. Likely from rock and sand, nothing major. Still doing its thang.

I have 0 phos as well I run a GFO reactor and have a refugium....honestly since day one they have not changed...I'm sure they are in there just in the rock work and chaeto algae. I feed the tank rinsed mysis shrimp and like 3 times a month I use phyto and zoo plankton about 1 ml of each. The green hair algae may have come in on a coral :(

Try an urchin... My guy absolutely loves any form of algae besides bubble (my experience). Simply destroys anything in his path. A very inexpensive / interesting addition.
