So I was droppin somethin off at my friend’s house and he asked me to come in to check his tank for something. There was some kind of brown/green thing on his sandbed. Didn’t have bubbles so kinda looked like a cross between diatoms and Dino. Got some images attached. (Says it goes away at night and then reappears in the morning so I just told him it was dino) Any ideas?

Also got some form of algae. Want to know what type it is as well. Started to raise nutrients and feedings after I told him it was Dino.

How old or new is the tank? Looks rather clean and makes me think just diatoms.
Been past that dusty Diatom Phase and entering that Dino Battle. I’d say the tanks been up for at least 4 months. Do diatoms disappear at night though?

The clean look in your tank would make me suspect low nutrients which dinos thrive in. Do you have access to a microscope? Only sure way to know.

Sadly no microscope. Any ideas about what that algae on the rocks are though? Raising the amount of feeding and nutrients so there’s gonna be some algae.
