What is your favorite non-nano fish?

I know with me, having a 20g I am limited to the kinds of fish I can have, and I always love looking at the fish one day I might be able to have when I have a bigger tank. That is why I am asking this question. What is your favorite fish that wouldn't work in a nano tank. Maybe you like it for its personality or maybe it is the striking details it has.

Swallowtail angelfish. I have 2 in my ext 170. Also partial to anthias.
I have 2 and they grow fast.

I was watching a full grown one at the Cleveland aquarium and it flared its spiny fins.. I just went, "dang what a cool fish I want one." And it's utilitarian and beautiful too!

Yes! I was just going to say the same thing. One of mine graduated from QT today, with another in a different QT. I really like this Rabbitfish too. It’s called a Brown Spotted Spinefoot.

boxfish. I likely won’t ever have a tank big enough for one but man I do love these guys.

Everything about them from their quirky swimming patterns to the way the glide through the tank. They are awesome.

Next up will likely by the orange spotted filefish (while technically not a nano tank fish it is rather small).

Most beautiful fish in the hobby in my opinion.

• Upside Down Goby (Trimma striatum) striking color just may never see it. Captive bred to boot.
• Links Goby (Amblygobius linki) personable, bit of utility. Also captive bred.
• Tessellated Blenny (Hypsoblennius invemar) - beautiful fish, captive bred. Do not own one though so can't comment personally.

That should give you a couple that are not the larger fish people already mentioned ;)

My favorite saltwater fish has always been a Coral Beauty. I am willing to risk it with my corals because it was the reason I got into FOWLR tanks many years ago, and I can't imagine having a larger tank without one....

I caught this little half inch burrfish in the sea. It grew about an inch a day until it was bigger than my Daughter so I gave it to the New York aquarium where they feed it barracuda. :astonished-face:

I’ve always felt that coral beauties are one of the most beautiful saltwater fish and totally underrated!!!

Emperor Angelfish along with school of Powder Blue Tangs. Former restricts coral kept but workable and latter better go through extended observation and tender loving attention before introduction but I need both. Along with banana moray and an Epaulette shark. Both aren't eating corals although forget about adding CUC. Had a well behaved snowflake in a 29g that ultimately ate my rather large scarlet hermit when I'm guessing seeking a larger shell and provided were none.

Red Sea Regal Angelfish. I had one in 2010 and have wanted another ever since!

Are there any aggression issues with him?

He is very laid back. He doesn't bother with any other fish or inverts. He is an aggressive eater at feeding time, and if he's not getting fed fast enough he spits water at me. He can hit me in the chest 2 feet from the tank.
