I'm a labrat. part of a team that develops mass notification systems, and fire alert devices.
(FACPs, strobes, horns, and loud-*** warning systems for military bases, college campuses, and government buildings.)

One of our systems saved a soldier in Afghanistan. He was working out and our system alerted the camp to a mortar attack. System went off, he got to a safe area, and mortar rounds went off right next to his weight bench.

I love my job. And Im proud to have laced-up (active USMC) and to continue to serve our military in a civilian role.
