Summer is coming up and a lot of us struggle with keeping our tanks cool. This is what I’ve been doing these past couple of days. A box fan over the sump will do until my AC unit is ready to be fired up. I’m surprised how efficient this works. I could drop the temp about a degree an hour in my 110

Mini fans!
I picked up some USB/Battery powered ones for camping last year for when : A- power goes out in the summer. B - Tank runs hot.
Finally set one up on an Inkbird and it works great.

I have one on my 15 gallon, and will have 2 on my 50 gallon in the sump. Hygger makes a cool set of 3 interconnected ones.

Was looking into something like this. I’ve read some use PC fans. I’m just afraid of salt creep after a while of them being in there. Maybe I’ll pick up some Hyggers like you mentioned

I have used chillers in the past and now run Tunze fans on my 150 and 112.
Room can get to 81 during the summer and the system stays 78.
Its small but effective. Both were bought used on ebay for under $100.

Saw these on BRS for about $150. Thought it was a bit expensive but worth it if it works and is strong enough. Tunze makes great equipment

Yea, now that I see they work well on something that large I may swap out my multi fan for the single!

Yea I have used fans before but the Tunze is small and efficient and new they have a 5 year warranty.
It has kept my 150 at 78 for 2 years now. Only downside is more evaporation which equals more rodi useage.

Home AC for me. If the house is warm enough to cause tank temperatures to rise its too warm for me so on comes the AC unit.
This^ for me as well.

I live in NJ with outside temp occasionally into the 100s, but I just use the house AC if it gets too hot. In the summer, my 47 g AIO can get up to 82F before the Apex alarms. I have a backup JBJ chiller in storage in case the AC ever breaks.

Central ac now for nearly 20 years.
When I used mh and vho lighting, the only thing that cooled my tank enough was a 1/2hp chiller.
Before the chiller it was a couple 7" clip on fans, and a half dozen gallon containers of frozen water rotated several times a day in the sump. First thing in the morning, at noon and at dinner time. It was a major pain.
I made sure to include the wife in monitoring the tank temp, so when I suggested a chiller, she was ready.
