Ok I'm back with more stuff I can't identify. The snail was in my hob refugium and the starfish ( I think it's a starfish) came off a acan frag I just got and dipped. I didn't want to start another thread so I posted hereThis. In some ways I welcome the wild and the weird (within reason). So far the worst I've had were a couple aiptasia on coral frags that I put superglue over.
But I also keep about 100 houseplants and have dealt with both spider mites and mealybugs w/them in the past -- that experience taught me it sucks but it's not the end of the world, and stuff is gonna happen that you just have to deal with. Every once in a while I'll pick up a new succulent that has some sort of mealybug appear on it, I spray the plant down a few times over the course of a few weeks, and it's NBD. I can say I'm a borderline entomologist as this point b/c the best way to defeat a pest is to understand its life cycle.
