There are many different types of macroalgae you can keep in your refugium to be used for nutrient export or to feed your fish. What kinds of macroalgae do you keep in your refugium, and what do you use it for?

Is the idea that macroalgae do different things? I always thought they all did the same and that is to bleed off excess nutrients. I started with Chaeto but quickly realized that gunk got stuck in it like a filter so quickly changed to sea lettuce.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
