Thanks for the link SD guy. I had been told by a coral expert that the pink ***** and vivid echino were actually the same chalice and then I saw someone selling a vivid echino who made a point that it was not the pink ******* so I was a little confused. :sad:I could see myself having the same conversation naming a coral. I know there is such controversy in naming corals but it is fun and it is nice to label something. I got some no name zoas yesterday and I was trying to keep track of what I had and I had to write pink green with pink skirt zoa. Not as fun.

I don't have any of the pink ******* but I do have a mini colony of blue ******* that started as a single um er "****". I do agree part of the naming is marketing but it is also just simply fun to do!

my mother colony is growing bumpy in the center of the colony....thats what makes me think it takes along time to grow like that....are these ******* growing on my colony ?????LOL

Your coral is definitely different than the PB or vivid, as it has pink eyes... interesting that the developing eyes look to have the green/yellow though. Am I seeing that correctly?

Just reread my previous post, might need a redirect. Was meant to poke fun at all the intended or unintended double meanings. ;)

heres a close-up of the eyes

These two pics show pink eyes. Am I not seeing this correctly?

yes i see what you mean now.....could it be they are developing yet ...cause all the other eyes are yellows and greens.....

Interesting. I'm not sure.. maybe a lighting thing? Mine have always had the contrasting color, even when they are just beginning "smears" in the flesh, like one of the other pics you posted. The ones you posted also seem to have the correct green with radiating orange striping.

i do know it just pops with vibrant colors of pinks, greens and yellows under actinics... and i also know it loves high light.....it sits about 20" under 250 watt halides in moderate flow......never had the courage to move it and see what it does under other lighting and flow....LOL

OK, yeah, mine shows no pink at all in the eyes. Sounds like a nice color morph.
