I’m currently using up my boxes of Aqua Forest salt but not sure I’ll open the last box. Might sell it locally for cheap. I am starting to believe it’s most of the issue with my cyano problems. I saw this same issues years ago with Reef Crystals and have never touched it since.

I have a brand new box of ESV salt I am going to crack open and see if I notice anything after a few water changes

You feel like ESV is the best salt to use or just best for your application and needs?

ESV seawater system (4 part). Mixes easy, crystal clear, and my mixing containers stay absolutely spotless no matter how many batches I mix or how long I store it before using it.

After all my testing, years of using almost every salt out there, and then digging through all the ICP testing I did and Ryan did at BRS it is the best salt available IMO.

It is undoubtedly the best approach to salt. Separating the ingredients out means you get perfect mixing every time. Then throw in the fact it’s on sale almost monthly and you can get it for less than $0.50 a gallon.

I really like NYOS and TM Pro as well but they are 75-80 cents a gallon and seem to be going up

I use Instant Ocean, have for more years than I care to mention. I like the 160 gallon size in the plastic bucket. I think it stays fresher. Also I have noticed that in some cases the price for the 200 gallon boxed is more per gallon than the 160 gallon price per gallon. Having said all that I would have no problem using any of the popular brands.

I have always used IO over the years. Cheap and consistent. The only other type I have used is NSW. 🙂

Red Sea salt 80% of the time or Reef Crystals when they are so cheap that it’s just a no brainer. FYI - I purchase at good price during Black Friday. My UPS guy hates when I order 10 bags/buckets. Been in the hobby for 20 years and these two have given me the best health for my corals.
