What should I do for live sand?

I like ocean direct but the fine particles always got stirred up by gobies. I personally would go with a sand with less fine particles and mixed with a tiny bit real ocean sand

Hiya,

Our live sand is critter friendly.
Snails, gobies, wrasses, jawfish, worms, shrimp, starfish and crabs live in and on it.

It tends to be on the chunky end of the spectrum but can vary a bit. It’s great for high flow tanks.

Many customers mix TBS sand with other live sands, we recommend mixing with a coarse grade (not fine).

Mimicking an ocean environment is so important; think random flow through the aquascape, tropical storms that blast both rock & sand, moments of stillness, clouds and the variety of critters that pick through and move sand.

To keep sand happy maintain it weekly. Consider:
-gently running through it with an acrylic rod to move the deeper sand
-blow it with a turkey baster to move the upper to mid level sand
-employ a variety of hermits, pistol shrimp, cerith snails…and even keep that hiking mantis shrimp
-vacuum it once a month or every quarter

thanks for showing up tbs! So it sounds all good to keep gobies in the sand! I think I’ll probably do a mix. Maybe 50/50 between tbs sand and one other kind since I want the sand to be closer to white. Thanks
