Back 10 years ago people would freak out at 78 degrees for any reef tank. Today I see many are ok with temps as high as 85.

My tank has been hovering around 82 degrees during the day and about 77 at night. I just ordered a set of fans and would like everyone's opinion on when they should kick on. I am trying to minimize noise so was originally thinking of kicking them on late like at 82 degreed however if my home AC fails or something goes wrong that leaves me no safety net so have also considered kicking them on early at 78 degrees and hopefully keeping the tank under 80 all day. Again I am not a fan(ha) of noise and the tank is almost silent as it is. Curious on everyone's opinions. I will mostly be doing zoanthids ricordia and SPS

78. When the tank reaches 79, I have multiple changes the apex engages to bring it back down. Such as OSC for none essential pumps/reactors and cabinets fans.

Summertime they are mostly around 82-85ish. Winter time mostly in the high 70s. I live in the Caribbean and don't have whole house ac. I deal with some algea growth during the summer months because of how warm it is but it goes away around October.

I have my heater set at 77 however the heater never comes on during the summer (May-Oct) here in central Florida. My house thermostat is set for 76 during the day and 74 at night. The tank temp gets up close to 79 during the days and mid 77ish overnight. In the winter (Ha!) I let the house get down to around 60 during cold snaps so I'm sure the heater will be running then.

Florida as well. I don’t think I have ever seen a heater turn on down here.
