I have had many freshwater tanks in my past. My mother had 10 fish tanks in our house at one time when I was a child. Yes...10. That is truth. These were 5, 10, 20 gallon tanks and a 75 gallon tank. She even managed to squeeze one onto our only bathroom...lol. As an adult I never had more than one tank at a time. Always freshwater. I have not had a fish tank in several years. So last year when we bought our new home we thought something was missing. We had an empty 55 gallon tank that hadn't been used in a decade in old garage. I thought I would really like to have a saltwater aquarium. My other half agreed somewhat reluctantly. We started watching videos of anything dealing with saltwater tanks. Then it was questions of cost. Then it was question of fish only or reef. Then it was....you guys know how this goes...lol. Needless to say, last September (2020) we put tank together with live sand, water, light, heater, circulation pump, and unique scape and promptly went on vacation to New Orleans for a week (masks on face). After all it needed to start cycling right?...lol. Well, we ended up with an unintended guest that somehow made a car ride back and 2 days out of water from our trip to the beach while in LA. God works in mysterious ways I say because he is an honored part of our tank now...very first inhabitant...lol. (Good thing we had a saltwater tank sitting empty at home, still amazed by this.) And he helped kick off this amazing journey. My reluctant other half, well he is just as crazy about this hobby now too! Our roller coaster ride has begun and we are throwing our hands in the air for the ride!! What were we thinking???
