Eatbreakfast posted a sticky at the beginning of the month. It discussed proper placement of postings, particularly where emergencies are concerned.

So I posted a question in the Reef Chemistry forum related to the look of my Anemones. I received a few detailed responses, but needed more. So I reposted a modified version of my question in the Anemone and Clownfish forum. Again, a few detailed responses.

I will say this: While the activity on the thread wasn't what it would be on the Reef Aquarium Discussion forum, it was helpful and saved me the trouble of vetting information.

I'm guessing that some forums attract more users than others, and that the Reef Aquarium Discussion and Tank Emergency forums are the go to when people just aren't sure where to post.

In the end, I think it is better to post in the appropriate forum.

I think in some cases quantity is better, because what you are actually looking for is people saying the same thing over & over again. Hopefully that means they've all had positive experiences doing the same thing. E.g. You're needing to raise magnesium and a lot of posters are saying X product worked well for them. In my mind, that's better than just one person saying it works no matter who they are.
