I've never tried one, but I've always like them and wanted to. If a local reefer posts an aquacultured frag for sale, I may try it. Otherwise I worry about the slow demise that so many seem to experience.

There is an 8 minute video with Julien Sprung on you tube. Here is the original hypothesis article. There are more people that talk about that just not a ton on this forum. It seems to be the common theme on FB posts asking about goni care.
I don't have a dosing regime. Iron, manganese are very quickly depleted much more so if you have a refugium. An ICP will test natural levels of manganese, but just barely.

Jaime,

Can you tell me what manganese product you use?

Im assuming there isn’t a viable hobbyist grade test kit for Mn, and so ICP is the main method for testing levels?

Appreciate the info!

I may have to transition from Clams to goniopora. Just lost my gigas last night out of nowhere. Nothing better than one sensitive specimen to another one. I've found I need to dose Iron, Manganese, Strontium, Iodide, and Vanadium weekly. When I had an ATS it sucked iron and Manganese up even more so I had to take it off. Luckily I make my own DIY Trace elements and do ICP testing every so often since with a 500g system you go through alot. For example, I dose 250mL of Manganese solution, 150mL Iron, 7.4mL Iodide, and 1.7mL weekly.

Also after moving it to my lowboy in pretty high flow and alot of daylight (for the clams) they seem to be most happy.

I really love Gonipora. I don't have many but I'm starting to really "get my head turned" from other corals by them. They come in a variety of beautiful colors, they sway in the water flow, and can grow pretty fast. So what about you? Here is some great info about gonipora care from @Tidal Gardens.

1. What's not to love about Gonipora? Cons?

2. Do you have Gonipora coral in your reef tank? (pics please)

I dont have a goni yet but it's on the list of coral I plan on getting and one of the ones that got me into the hobby, I'm not intimidated because of the care requirements just the budget lol But I will get one eventually!

you know what I do have a flower pot in my nano tank that's doing alright its not exactly thriving ( I don't think ) but I will say its out and swaying in the current WAAAAAY more than the alviopora I have in my 40 breeder. that one is the real pain for me and I can't seem to figure out why. every spot ive had it in is pretty textbook alviopora placement and it eats once / twice a week sometimes. its really confusing. I got a great deal on both from a vendor in st Louis mo at a swap. the Goni is going to do really well I think when I move him to its new spot later tonight. the other is still a mystery that im working on lol

I'm a new reefer with a nano tank and I have one goni. It hasn't died but it hasn't grown yet either. Had it only a month and a half so just glad it hasn't died! I had to remove bubble algae from it yesterday so it's a bit unhappy at the moment.

Anyone with experience with alveopora as well? Curious how they are compared to goniopora. Gf wants a white alveopora and been thinking of setting her up a tank.
I have an Alvepora that has been in my tank about four months - it's doing very well but I will note at times it seems to get upset, normally right before I do my monthly waterchange. I think they, like most corals, hate increases in NO/PO

Love goni's but something in my tank has made them unhappy and more or less close up, so I don't get to see them thrive like they used to which is really disappointing.

Dude don’t get me started on some goni’s. Let’s not forget about the Alve’s and Bernardapora too!
