I make my width 700 on most pictures....on rare occasion, smaller. However, the site knocks down the sharpness of the picture somehow, so it's not as crisp.

I noticed this when I was playing with gels and posting pictures...looked great on my computer, but when posted, they weren't as crisp.

Thanks Paul.
Did you do 700x700 upload from the desktop?

And thanks for the mod move too.

As big as you want to. The site will resize them. Shouldn't really lose quality though @redfishbluefish. Are you uploading directly to the forum?

thank you.
I noticed tapatalk from the phone makes them huge and not really fun for viewing.
Its possible when the site compressed them from it does it less efficiently as re-sizing in lightroom and sending as the correct size.
Ive had that issue on clients sites.

Rev, first off, I use Photobucket. In THIS thread, post #22, was when I first noticed that the picture on my computer was sharper than the one posted on the site. I just assumed the site knocked down the file size to save on space, and in doing so, the picture lost some of it's sharpness. I'm not losing any sleep over this, just something I noticed....not a bit deal.

I'm not sure if you can do this because I have my Photobucket set as PRIVATE, but try clicking on the picture in the above link, and if it does take you to my account, you will see the picture is sharper within Photobucket.
