What's up with my feather duster

I got this about a month ago or so. He was under a rock and got pulled off the rock and I think the tube was damaged. I believe it's coming back slowly, but surely.
Am I right?

yes, it will likely recover. The tube is manufactured by the worm, it is not actually a part of its body, so it will likely be fine. I would recommend tucking the tube in between rocks or into the sand with the head side facing out.
