Both my sea whips have open polyps and seem happy. However both of them shed their middle shell and I'm not sure if the black part is their skeleton or not (gorgonian are new for me). They seem be doing well otherwise. Should I be concerned and if so what can I do for them?

It’s tissue loss. It should grow back quickly if it’s happy.

Gorgs will take a LOT of flow. My happy gorgs all visually move when the flow is right.
I had to put an unhappy one right in direct flow in front of the powerhead. (Don’t try this at home lol)
