Help with ID

i was wondering if someone can help not only id this lps frag my buddy gave me and what's going on with it. i noticed it has these hard crystal like balls which seem to be attached to the top base of the skeleton.

looks like bubble algae to me

Thank you guys for the help, I really appreciate it! In new to the hobby and still have a lot to learn. I was thinking bubble algae, but I didn't know that the bubbles would be so firm.
