Do whelk snails eat limpets? I have 1 whelk snails that came with my live rock. It’s been in my tank for 14 months now. I never noticed it doing any harm to anything so I left it in.

Recently I had an outbreak of baby limpets. In one certain area there have been a bunch. Now I noticed the whelk has moved from his normal spot to the other side of the tank right on top of the area with limpets. Is there any chance it’s eating them?

Yes there is...do u see a lot of empty shells?

I have lives from Florida so it basically looks like crushed up shells, so it would be tough for o see limpet shells.

The whelk normally stayed in 2 spot and I suspected it was eating some small clams in my rock work. I’m ok if it eats the limpets, but I’m getting a bit worried it will go after corals at some point.
