No worries. Technically, I did start out the thread about being a librarian. :-)

A more sympathetic ear I could not be. It’s amazing how some some feel they are owed something or deserve special treatment. No concern for others.

I am an auto insurance adjuster for 20 plus years. I could not tell u how many story I have. People think they are owed something or that they dictate the rules regardless of the situation.

Here’s a good story to hopefully make you a bit more cheery by laughing at me. Hope not too long

I recently worked a catastrophe hail storm. I was at one location writing estimate after estimate for people who just got hit with huge balls of hail damaging their cars and homes. The last inspection of the day was a husband and wife who drove in a 2011 Honda Pilot. The first thing the lady says when she get out of the car is she should have priority because there is a small paint chip that she is worried will rust. Tried to explain about surface rust and not to be concerned. Never mind the car next to her didn’t have a windshield.

Long story short, I am giving them their paperwork at the end and these 2 look at me. First the husband says he wants the whole car painted even though only the hood and roof had minor damage. He did not care when I explained insurance is to repair damaged items, not improve their entire car. The lady looks at me and swear to honest she said they are moving to an affluent area in Naples Florida and the estimate I gave them for over 6k was not enough due to the standard of living. So no matter if I gave them 2k or 20k she would say the same thing.

So basically both are saying I am wrong and just kept staring like I would pay them more since they deserved more. I did not know what to do. Could not believe these 2 were so self centered, even surrounded by others who had real problems. So more of this went on and on 15 min. I got so annoyed they could be self centered I told the, this is not my first week. It is the second but they should be ok. I said a part will cost them same here or Beverly Hills or Detroit. I almost went so far as to ask them if the area they are moving to will let them park their 8 year old Honda with faded scratched paint into their neighborhood.

And to top it off, our company sends out surveys. Can’t wait for their response. People think they are entitled to things. I should have asked them if I clean their bathroom toilet would that make them Happy

And I get to do it all again tomorrow. Let me know if anyone wants more stories, have tons of the

Now I am riled up, thanks lemon ;Jawdrop

@Mastiffsrule , you and I were designed to be friends from the start. I'm sorry about your story (but can definitely appreciate it). As far as getting you all riled up, I apologize. I suggest you make yourself something relaxing -- a martini, an iced tea, or a grilled cheese sandwich. (Which is what is on the Stuempfl (my last name) dinner plan for the evening. Then, go find your wife, and offer to buy her a garbage can. ;) You are a good person and I enjoy your posts.

Thanks for the nice words as always. Sorry, I should have said I got myself riled up:). I still cannot believe theses people.

I am waiting for my recent order from marine depot to arrive, until then I can’t test nitrates. Can’t tell if I need to dose a martini yet;Happy. I am down with the Cheese. My motto is I love cheese. Favorite is toast some fresh rye bread than butter it, Muenster on top, melt in toaster, sprinkle garlic salt to taste and yummy. My tummy ust growled as I typed this. No cheese in the house

After the marine depot order I placed Monday I need lot more than a can. I swear I ordered like 30 things including lighting.

Going to see what I have in fridge now. Rumbly tummy. Have a great night.

That sounds like a fantastic sandwich! I need to give it a try sometime.

Maybe I should mention to my husband that my sump needs a new bracelet. ;)
But be careful, my ex- wife asked for diamonds and I heard Dyson... so she had a bad Christmas or It was me? (in my defense I did not had my hearing aid on)

I am also a claims adjuster. I am blown away almost daily by people and their demands.

Between you and @Mastiffsrule 's posts, I have most definitely decided not to be a claims adjuster when I grow up.

Or just plain and simple, dont file a claim. They are overworked...

Totally overworked. I have people to see already booked into next Wednesday. But let’s not say don’t file. People need us.

I met a guy Thursday to look at his car. He has barely any money. He was driving his car for 2 weeks before I saw it. The left rear wheel was so crooked he was driving sideways and about to drive 2 hours to pick up his kid. I basically forced him to leave the car and get a rental it was so unsafe and he didn’t know.

Personally I say everyone follow Salty’s example and stay away. Great PSA

Anyway, we are way off topic. I am already shopping dosing containers for my next anniversary.

Great story Salty, thanks for sharing it.

I love libraries and librarians. My librarians go out of their way to interlibrary loan any crazy request we can think of. The library is a community hub and hosts amazing guest speakers all the time. I respect the place so much that I donated a 29 gallon biocube and its service.

This is a very cool story. Its awesome he's trying to make you happy.

I really wish I could share this hobby with my wife like this. I've picked fish she loves so hopefully I can win her over. If the emporer and porky can't do then no one can. I really hope this becomes a family affair.

Wow! What a donation. I'm sure they (and the community) are really appreciative it. I know I would be.

I love this post, thank you for sharing.

Reminds me of when I picked up two free food grade 55 gal drums for my mixing station. I was smiling the whole way home like I won the lottery. My smile was also because I was able to fit both of them in my little Ford Focus ST, hatchback for the win, again! Combining love for my car and reefing is golden.

Also, many cheers for librarians always being sooo helpful (among other great qualities)!

I'm just blown away that you could fit two 55 gall drums into a Ford Focus. You must have some amazing skills. I'm thinking you once had a job in a circus where you were one of the clowns that fit in a tiny car.

Awesome gift only a salty could love!
Do your non aquarium friends look at you weird when you tell them about your barbage can gift? :p
I have always loved my brute on wheels. My sump counter was made very high to be able to roll it under the counter. (Ooh, I just had an idea to fix something annoying me about it though)

They actually thought it was really sweet -- but my co-workers thought it was weird that I reserved vacation four months in advance to go to California only to find out that I was going by myself and it was for Reef-A-Palooza coming up in August. I think they see it as a waste of time, money, and all the other things I can do in California. ;Smuggrin
