Used to keep my Magnesium around 1300 but got precipitation. Now keeping at 1500.

Wondering if there is a sweet spot for optimal colors?

What is your optimal Magnesium level for your aquarium?

1450 to 1500 for me. Magnesium has an affect on the other elements as well. I've never had trouble with higher Mag, but I've seen many with LPS have issues with lower levels.

1500s or 1600s. Found good success with them in high Mag, especially my LPS with the Duncan and Acan getting really puffy. Rn my Mag is in the 1200s from a drop, but slowly raising it back up.

I recommend about 1300 ppm.

I'd caution folks that magnesium testing is often inaccurate, and is quite dependent on salinity changes. It may be among the most inaccurate of the tests we frequently use, and folks who have optimized their magnesium level may be reporting a test result that might not reflect what is really present.

On the salinity change part, a change from sg = 1.024 to sg = 1.026 buy evaporation will boost magnesium from 1300 to 1408 ppm.

FYI, some folk report problems with inverts such as snails when magnesium is high.
