Hey guys. I'm looking for a Bluestripe Pipefish pair, but I can't find a site that lets you choose genders except for Bluezoo Aquatics. Are they reliable?
Anyone know if I can just order two from Liveaquaria and ask them to send a male and female?

Thanks

From my understanding there is a courtship they preform before pairing. And not always having 2 differing sexes ensures a pair will form.
If see them in person the blue stripe male will have ridges on their snout, females do not.

Have seen rarely pairs of pipefish on divers den. Not as often as sea horses, but i think sea horses have better shipping success rates so that might play a part in that.

Update for anyone who cares- I ended up buying from Saltwaterfish.com. In the "order notes" section I asked them to send a male and female, and they did! The male arrived in a bag marked "male bluestripe pipefish" and the same thing for the female.

You have given me more faith in this vendor than i had before [emoji23]

After viewing some of their fish packs.

I have never seriously considered them.

I got a male and female from blue zoo and I think they sent me the same gender as the larger one is chasing the smaller one a lot. I am not sure what to do.

2 males will fight. Males have bumps on their noses and females don't, but it can be hard to tell if they are really small. If you have two males, you'll have to put one in a different tank or give one to an lfs or trade him for a female
