Most friends run geo or korrallin.
I run Tunze.
Most run controllers. I don't run ph probe or controller.
I tune by hand and their is no change in my tanks ph.
Many friends have issues with the probe and controllers.
My setup is so simple.
Many of them are into complete automation and think its old school, and it is, but a few have dropped the automation and wont go back.
It really is that simple.
All the automation people I know run a second chamber and many have very nice tanks.
I just prefer to be the one in charge instead of the controller, lol.

I have just gone for a deltec PF501 with the Kamoer continuous duty pump, I would have preferred the dastaco or deltec twin tech but didn't go for them for the same reason I don't own a Ferrari!

I will not fluidize the media as recommended instead I have a great value source of 5 to 10mm coral skeleton

That geo you posted is looking good and working well . . . On my tank o_O

that wasn’t a long hiatus.

dastaco or Aquarium Engineering. AE are CNC’d from PVC and look to be bomb proof!

welcome back.

Back to the earlier question about media & ReBorn. When it was out of stock, I bought a bunch of Middle Keys crushed coral. It was much like the OLD Reborn. Did have some shells but not much. Less than a 10% loss. All the Reborn I have since managed to acquire is much smaller than the old stuff.

Wish I had it back right now. :)

I may end up with another Geo or the Reef Octo’s are looking pretty sweet too.

We’ll see.

I can check ph in the morning, its always 7.9.
Before lights go out 8.1-8.2.
Been that way since I fired it up.
I check maybe once a month, when I remember, lol.
You said you don’t have a pH probe??

You must be talking about a held held pH meter??
I have several. I use them to monitor alk when I lower it in new salt water.
I also have an apex thats still in the closet.
Never got around to setting it up or really needing it, lol.

I’ll take the Apex. How much do you want for it. PM me if you want to sell it.

I love my geo. I have the matching Kalk reactor for the perfect match.

I just got a 44lb box of reborn delivered last week. ... Its the small stuff. I have a little bag of the small stuff and they are packaging it as large now. I think they are trying to get more large media in through customs. I now have a nice big box of tiny media.

hi I have the smaller Calcreact 150 - I have a Kamoer that was pushing but as of today now pulling with a separate feed pump. Pushing I was getting a build up of CO2 in the reactor but now trying pulling. JDA has been helping. Build quality is great and there are some helpful videos from Coralvue happy to share experiences and what to look out for

Great to hear that you like the reactor. The build quality looks very nice to me. I like those new VarioS pumps too. These reactors are reasonably priced IMO.

I think @gcarroll bought one. I’d be interested to hear his feedback.

I talked to @ReefBum about a week ago and he said he’s running one on his new build. We should be able to get some good feedback on these soon.

I started running one of these recently. Seems like a solid piece of gear. Varios 4 pump is dead silent. The only sound is cavitation if you let gas build up in the top, but that's easily purged. Holds just over 2 gallons of media. Mine was shipped without a few O-rings and pH probe holder. CoralVue got it all squared away pretty quickly.
