Hey all,

im looking to add one more fish to my tank and I need some ideas. I have a bare bottom Nuvo 40 with two clowns and a long nose hawk fish. The hawk fish has been a model citizen until I tried to add a flasher wrasse. He would not leave the wrasse alone and I eventually had to remove the wrasse. He is super nice to the clowns. Any ideas as to A new addition that the hawk fish might not have beef with? I know there are no guarantees but I’d love your input.

Do you have corals? If not then I’d suggest a dwarf angel.

Your hawkish won't bother a Hawaiian dragon eel! ;)

Yeah, sorry I should have mentioned that. I’ve got gorgonians, a couple leathers, mushrooms, and a few LPS.

How about a chromis or anthias?

Nice dragon....so cool. Not a fan of chromies but there some pretty cool anthias. I’ve considered that.

Couple Banggai cardinals would be nice.
I’ve been thinking about this as well. They’re probably quick enough to juke the hawk fish if he gets aggressive.

Well what are you looking for? What color does your tank need? Do you want a fast swimmer like a wrasse or angel? Someone that just floats around? It sounds like percher are out of the question..

I would love another wrasse I’m just not sure what kind would hold its own with the long nose.

That's tough, you want something aggressive like a six line wrasse but your tank is a bit small for one.

Yeah, exactly my thought process. I may just go with a pair of cardinals and see how it goes.
