Which Gyre Water Pump Do You Like & Why ?

I've ran icecaps and jebao. Both moved water fine but for some reason the icecaps would always develop an air pocket/ bubble and get noisy. I would have to remove them and rotate them to get the bubble out but they would do the same thing and get noisy again. I have no idea how the air would get in because they weren't close to the surface and nothing in the tank creating bubbles. The jebao never had the problem.

Had icecap 2k's, moved to Maxspect 350's.

Both are solid. I do like the new maxspect better, it has "flow directors" so you can change the flow pattern up/down and left/right. Pretty nifty.

I've only had the Maxspect XF330 Gyres, so can't really compare to others. They seem to work well and I haven't noticed any issues in the year or two that I've had them.

Hygger nano (12W, I think) my favorite for being quiet, economical and easy to disassemble.

Maxspect xf330 - least favorite to clean, favorite for directional flow (flow guards seem to work); had a hard time disassembling and reassembling well. Center pins would push out to other side when putting on the cages.

Maxspect Jump 2000 - easier to clean than xf330s (mine at least). Less impressed with the flow.

All of the above seem to lose their steam quickly if not cleaned regularly (like every week or two).

I’ve used hugger gyre pumps and also redsea gyre pumps.

Hygger gyre: smallest footprint for the gyre pump. So great for small tanks. Looses its power over long run. Specially pushing to max in SPS tank. Currently using mini gyre on 24LPS tank. I still have all 4 of them for emergency.

Redsea Gyre25: currently using 4 in 48SPS tank. I like that it has reverse gyre (it’s not really reverse but slight tilt and at lower flow). I have them randomized for all of them. So it’s definitely giving random flows alright.

I have two RedSea ReefWaves and like others have commented on other gyre makes, they do loose their power if not regularly cleaned. I keep the screens on mine so they collect dirt and debris. Not particularly easy to clean but I will say after sales service is very good. (I had an issue with one of mine and the motor assembly was replaced).

I have 2 Maxspect 350s. Great to have the flow directors. The cloud app works like the wave engine. Only had them for three months but zero issues so far.

Jebao.
Very affordable, quiet, stick good,and surprisingly good quality.

We use their entire line to move, sterilize and dose water.

So far years of no issues.

I use their gyres both horizontally and vertically.
