The small green hammer, or the purple torch?
I would have expected those to be compatible... are you sure they didn't just tangle themselves up? Is one causing the other to recede?
Perhaps move one or the other so it doesn't happen again, or short term setup some sort of wall/barrier - I like to use flat rocks for this purpose... they don't 'seem' wall like to casual family observation, but it keeps things from stinging others...
Now you have me wondering if different collection areas cause compatibility issues... I'm off to do more research (not that people tell us originally where something came from and after generations of aquaculture... sigh)

This torch is 3 inches above these 2 in question. Yesterday was the first time I saw a sweeper since I started this hobby 6 months ago.
Today I come home from lunch and see the lower torch and small hammer going at it. I had to use my long turkey baster to seperate them. Def not tangled. They were stuck to each other. I'm home from work for the day now, and the hammer...I have never seen it so puffed up! He's easily 2x as big!
This weekend I moved this little hammer from the sand bed to my 'torch garden' and here we are today. Apparently he the hammer is diggin this location because of how much he's inflated. No more stinging, and no tissue recession at all. The hammer has even taken on a bit of pink on the hammer heads it looks like
