Which LEDs for a 55 Gallon?

Haha that's good about your parameters. Honestly there was a HUGE craze about LEDs, and they're good and efficient all around, however t5's have such a proven track record! The combo is excellent. I say get something with a controller of sorts so that you satisfy that geeky gadget side of you lol. Look at some of the best SPS tanks, almost none of them only run LEDs, it's all a combo of sorts. It's also subjective to your own liking. There are so many light options out there to chose from. But it always comes down to cost lol.

My favorite fixture but out of my price range. I'm still looking for a used one to pop up. If you have the benjamins, this is a phenomenal fixture but probably overkill for a 55 gallon. Don't forget that is a very skinny tank measuring only 1 foot in width so not much light is needed. I ran old school Kessil 150's sky blue when I started up 4 years ago with a 55 gallon and I had no problem growing LPS and most nems.

If I were to just get the regular version, wouldn't I need a controller? I think it would be worth it to go for the pro 16s.
Not necessarily a controller, but at least a timer. I got the elite, and the ramping is smooth and easy to program.
